AnimeJapan 2018: Cool Anime, Cosplay, and Models

AnimeJapan 2018 at Tokyo Big Sight was a lot of fun. Any photographer who attended left with a lot of great photos. There were models (both real and plastic), robots, and dolls. The cosplayers, though, drew most of the attention.

It was a busy day. Everywhere was packed. I have to say that the appearance of one company there surprised me. It was Netflix. Actually in hindsight, it shouldn’t have, as it streams video-on-demand and animation!

Space Battleship Yamato was there. It was an incredibly detailed model. Of all the models at Animation Japan, it pulled me the most. The detail on it was superb.

I spent most of my time with the cosplayers outside. They were fun. And they posed for the cameras for hours and hours. I appreciated their efforts. Most of them were girls. Only a few guys were a part of it. But, everyone was fun, engaged in conversation, and very accommodating to requests.

I wanted to ask the girls about their outfits. But with so many people waiting to take their photos, it was impossible. There were warriors, a sprinkling of schoolgirls, a few witches, and a couple of princesses. There was even one hybrid human/animal. They were all very, very cool.

AnimeJapan only happens once a year at Tokyo Big Sight. It is an excellent place to contact and photograph some great cosplayers.
