Asakusa Samba Carnival 2024 was a sizzler

Asakusa Samba Carnival 2024 was a huge success. It was a hot one, in every sense. The performers and the parade sizzled. It was mid-September, but temperatures in the mid-thirties kept everyone warm. And the parade? It was amazing outfits and Latin dancing. Brazil took over Tokyo for an afternoon.

The action happened in front of one of Tokyo’s most iconic places, Sensoji Temple. More precisely, it took in front of Kaminarimon Gate. And 480,000 people were there to see it! They watched nineteen teams with their 5000 performers. It was a huge event.

Tokyo loves samba and it showed. The power and passion the performers put into their dance and outfits showed. The crowd cheered them on. And they did it all in scorching summer heat. That was surprising because Asakusa Samba Carnival 2024 was in September. That’s usually the start of autumn. Things should start to cool off. But not this time.

There are two tips I can give about this event. The first is Asakusa is popular so the streets are always crowded. But the carnival pushes that up another notch. Get there early to grab a spot. The other is clothing. 2024 was sizzling hot so wear something appropriate and don’t forget a hat.

But other than that, there isn’t much to say. The Asakusa Samba Carnival is an awesome event. It’s colorful, noisy, big, and a lot of fun. It’s perfect for photographers. That is one more tip. A good zoom lens is most helpful. Something in the range of 24-105 would cover most situations. Of course, some people might think an even longer one would be good too. That would help you get into the details. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photos!
