Dog photos of my mate Junya Junya

Dog photos give us such great memories. You never know when you might lose your family pet. And that is what happened in 2000. My family lost theirs. His name was Dela. He had been with them for sixteen years.

They loved him dearly. A big, painful hole suddenly appeared in their lives when he was gone. Actually, they once said they wouldn’t replace him when he passed away. They thought they couldn’t bear the experience of grieving for another pet in the future. That was how much he meant to them.

In 2000 my family lost its dog, Dela. He’d been with them for sixteen years. They loved him dearly, and when he was gone, a big, painful hole suddenly appeared in their lives. Actually, they once said that when he did pass away, they wouldn’t replace him. They thought they wouldn’t be able to bear the experience of grieving for another pet in the future. That was how much he meant to them.

But the day after he passed, they started thinking about finding a new one. They realized how vital a dog was to the family. The search began, and about a month later, they received a rescue dog. They named him Junya (after the prime minister of the time, Junichiro Koizumi).  He was great. We had him for nearly eighteen years.

Junya was a mix-breed and passed away in 2018. We enjoyed every minute of his time with us. It was a sad time, and my wife, Emi, took it hard. It would be fair to say that she suffered. She loved that dog, as she does all dogs, and spent all her free time with him. Actually, it’s her dream to work in a dog shelter with rescued animals, where she found him. If we ever win the lottery, that is what she will do!

Well, in February 2020, a phone call came from her sister.  She spotted a dog in a pet shop that looked like Junya.  Emi soon went to check him out.

Where Junya was a mix, this dog was a purebred Pomeranian. He looked the same even though he was a different color. His fur was brown with some black areas. But so many other things were the same.

He had the same snout. While a pup, you could see the resemblance in his stance and character. For my wife, the amazing thing was his personality.  According to her, it was almost a perfect match. That sale was probably one of the quickest in history!

So far, he’s been great. We named him Junya Junya in honor of his forebear, but of course, we often shorten it and call him Junya. Unfortunately, he’d been kept in his cage too long at the pet shop, which might have affected him. How could they have kept him in a cage for eight months with no exercise? Close any door, and he barks.

For a long time, he went crazy when someone used the toilet. Luckily, he grew out of that. But you did need to tiptoe there if you need to use it late at night. He is pretty sensitive.

Junya Junya is affectionate and even-tempered. I love his sense of fun and energy. Unfortunately, our apartment isn’t very big. So throwing a ball usually involves him chasing it and slamming himself into a wall as he gets it.  I doubt he’ll hurt himself, but some more space would be great.

He is my best mate. They say dogs are man’s best friend. That is completely true. Treat them right and they’ll give so much more back. Actually, they’ll give more than they ask for. They are so awesome.

I hope you enjoy these dog photos!  They were taken inside the apartment and during a morning walk.  Junya loves to run, so it wasn’t hard to encourage him to do that. Please leave comments and questions below.
