Hama Rikyu Gardens in spring 2023

Hama Rikyu Gardens in spring 2023.  What can I say but it was pretty good. I actually wanted to include cherry blossoms in the title but that was impossible. As I was there early in the season, they hadn’t fully bloomed yet. Still, the park had enough good subjects for a few photos.

I was a little surprised. That morning I had been to Aoyama Cemetery, and its trees were much better. It’s strange how some places in the city can only be a few kilometers apart, but be so different.

Again, I was lucky. As well as the cherry blossoms, the rapeseed field looked amazing. Its flowers were bright yellow. They were a great foreground to the skyscrapers of the Shiodome district.

I wish I had visited Hama Rikyu Gardens in spring when the cherry blossoms were at their best. That was difficult as rain was predicted for the rest of the week. That is common in spring. I have had many seasons and consequently, photo shoots lost to the weather.

I regretted not having time for a cup of tea at the pond’s Nakajima teahouse. I should have had one, but I needed to take photos. Maybe when we have no rain during cherry blossom I’ll be able to take things at a more leisurely pace.

Anyway, the pictures I got were okay. But which ones were best, the cherry blossoms or the other scenes from the park? That’s a difficult question as Hama Rikyu Gardens in spring is a great place for a camera. What do you think?

I won’t be back there again until November. That will be in autumn, another great time of year in Tokyo. Leave your questions and comments below.
