Hanegi Park plum blossoms in 2023
Hanegi Park plum blossoms in 2023 heralded the arrival of spring. I should say they did for me! Well, it wasn’t truly over, but it felt like it when I saw them. This tranquil place had an array of trees that burst with fragrant blooms in shades of pink and white. It was windy and cloudy, but that couldn’t be helped. I got some good photos!
As a photographer, visiting Hanegi Park during plum blossom season is a must. The sea of flowers creates a breathtaking backdrop. Whether you’re an amateur or a seasoned professional, it’s one place to capture the essence of early spring.
I hoped I would photograph there with good sunshine. Lady Luck had other plans for me though. When I turned up it was cold, cloudy, and windy. Oh, and it was crowded too. The park’s Plum Blossom festival was back. That was okay because the event had been canceled several times during the pandemic.
My original plan was to include some people in my photos. But the conditions were too dull and gray. I concentrated completely on flowers instead.
It was a good idea. Even though I didn’t have a macro lens I was happy with the Hanegi Park plum blossoms in 2023 photos. The flash brought out the best in the flowers. I’m glad it’s a part of my regular flower photography kit.
Extension tubes were in my bag, but I didn’t use them. It was far too windy. I assumed I wouldn’t get many good photos in the windy conditions using manual focus. In hindsight, I probably should have tried.
Hanegi Park is starting to grow on me. I wasn’t that thrilled with it years ago. Maybe my photography technique for plum blossoms was bad? Anyway, you need to get there. With its sea of blooms, this park has the perfect backdrop for capturing spring’s beauty. So grab your camera and head there to capture Tokyo’s beloved plum blossoms.
Something surprised me. I took these Hanegi Park plum blossoms in 2023, at the start of the festival. The flowers were in full bloom! I wasn’t expecting them to look so good. Anyway, I need to get to other places in Tokyo this week. Expect more articles soon!
