Mooneyes Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2019 revisited

The Mooneyes Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2019 was an experience. It left a lasting impression even five years later, in 2024. Despite the passage of time, revisiting this event holds significance for two reasons. First, my hard drive contains hundreds of captivating photos from the show. Second, past articles covering this event underscores the attraction of hot rod culture. Anyway, I hope you like car photography like I do.

So many amazing vehicles were there. I don’t have a driving license, but I enjoy looking at cars and bikes. And to see ones that were custom-built or customized was a real thrill. It’s on the same level as the Tokyo Auto Salon. Well, this event has fewer models!

These photos offer a glimpse into the setup of the hot rod cars and bikes. The venue was Pacifico Yokohama. When I walked in, it was an enormous concrete cavern. By the time we finished in the evening, the displays looked fantastic. Some of them were extremely creative.

There is one more thing I enjoy about the Hot Rod Custom Shows. Tokyo is a city known for its conservatism. So, to witness such a display of automotive creativity and individuality was refreshing. It was a departure from the endless line of Toyotas, Nissans, Hondas, and Mitsubishis we see daily.

I can’t add any comments to these photos. My original Mooneyes Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2019 article covered everything. Please leave your questions and comments below.
