Perfect Cherry Blossoms at Aoyama Cemetery

I saw perfect cherry blossoms at Aoyama Cemetery in 2025. That’s a big statement to make, but it’s true. Tokyo’s Hanami season lost two days to rain earlier that week. The weather rebounded. Flower photography was at its best that day.

The perfect cherry blossom photo experience

For me, it was. Why? The main reason was that I did things differently in 2025. Have you seen any of my previous Aoyama Cemetery cherry blossom visits? Many of them featured the same photos every year. I’m embarrassed to say that, but it’s true. A change was needed.

I consciously decided to photograph new tombs and scenes this year. Okay, a couple of old shots squeezed their way. But they are in the minority.

Cherry Blossom Road is Aoyama Cemetery’s most popular place in spring. The trees line both sides. They reach out to each other forming a tunnel of flowers. I skipped it in 2025. Everyone has taken that photo. We have enough. I went to the other lesser-known end for my shot. People weren’t needed.

I enjoyed looking at new graves. The flowers were a bonus. They looked so good. The cherry on the cake was the sunny sky and warm weather. Everything combined to give me the perfect cherry blossoms.

Conclusion

I can’t count the number of times I’ve been to Aoyama Cemetery in spring. But this year was my perfect experience. But how was your 2025 cherry blossom experience? Let me know about it by leaving a comment below. Questions and comments are welcome.
