Tokyo Midtown Christmas Illumination 2024
2024 Christmas illuminations and decorations are up in the Tokyo Midtown garden. I saw them on the twentieth. A large crowd was there to see them! I did my best to get good photos, but it was difficult. It was like walking through a sea of people in some areas. Do you want to see them? They will run until December 25th.
Workers will then hurry to replace them with New Year’s decorations. That’s different from Australia when I was a kid. If I remember correctly, we kept them up until mid-January. Someone might correct me on that though.
Japan has its way of doing things, of course. Christmas is a relatively new tradition whereas their New Year is ages old. It gets priority. There is only a short gap between the two, so everything needs to get done quickly.
Even a skating rink was there. You could judge its popularity by looking at the number of people using it. Yes, many had donned their boots. Quite a few fell on the ice. I guess those were beginners. I wanted photos, but the way it was set up made that difficult.
Anyway, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Don’t drink too much and make it a safe one. Leave questions and comments below if you have any.
