A Tokyo pet cafe: Le Petit Trianon

Pet cafes are popular in Tokyo. They’ve been around since 2004. Some have very unusual animals like hedgehogs, pigs, and capybaras. The sky is the limit, as long as it’s cute or unusual. But, I’m a dog lover so go to those. I especially like the ones that allow photography.

Luckily for me, a pet cafe opened in Takaido in December 2023. Its name is Le Petit Trianon. The owner is Nami and she is a trained pet dietician. She is a great cook for humans too. Her shop is a little different (and very cute). My dog Junya Junya and I often go there.

My image of pet cafes is a place to go to hang out with the animal of your choice for a set time. Well, that’s what I’ve seen in many places in Tokyo when I was a tour guide. At Nami’s, you go there to enjoy coffee and/or a meal! It’s a place to spend quality time with your friends or family and their pets.

Le Petit Trianon is small. It has only three tables, but it’s bright and sunny. I like it a lot. Plus it is only a five-minute walk from my house. The food is good too. Its clientele has proved friendly, as dog owners often are.

Take it from me, Nami is a good cook and makes great coffee too. She works by herself, so the menu is limited at the moment. My favorite is chicken nanban (fried chicken with tartar sauce). It comes with miso soup and rice.

There is food for dogs too. Nami is a trained pet dietician, so she makes healthy food and snacks for our furry friends. Junya Junya has enjoyed some cute pancakes and a bowl of strawberries. He loved them.

Dog photography at le Petit Trianon

Yes, you can do that. It’s what I go for! But ask Nami before you start. Her wallpaper provides a great background. And be respectful of other guests there. So far, everyone has been very accommodating. Her dog Fuku is always there, so ask if you want to take photos.

Where is Nami’s pet cafe?

It is near Takaido Station, on the Keio-Inokashira Line. Walk north along Kampachi-Dori and it’s just past Ozeki Supermarket on the right side. See it on Google Maps.

Wrapping up

Le Petit Trianon is a great pet cafe to eat in the Takaido area. The food is good and the people are nice. Plus you can meet the cutest dogs there. Of course, you can take your own too! And you might be able to do some pet photography if you are lucky!
