Tsukuba RC Arena is for international racing

Tsukuba RC Arena is amazing. It’s the base for Yokomo, a leading Japanese RC car company. It should be on your bucket list if racing is your hobby. I went and had a blast there.

The arena has been around for years. It underwent renovations in 2022 on the same weekend as the All Japan Hobby and Model Show. Yokomo created an incredible place. RC enthusiasts’ dreams have come true. None are better than it.

The arena’s facilities were impressive. Drivers want for nothing. Tables were everywhere for people to work on their cars. Access to power outlets is no problem. Everyone is friendly. The shop has chassis, electronics, bodies, paints, oils, and tools. It is at an international level. English-speaking staff are on hand. The venue has a huge future.

The arena has different courses for racing. The circuits are road, hill, and drifting. There is also an outdoor area. No one used that for my visit, as it rained most of the day.

The drivers’ skill levels put Lewis Hamilton to shame. They kept their cars glued to the tracks. These people must spend endless hours practicing.

Look at the drifters. They were like real life. I saw cars fly around the track side by side. How long does it take to reach that level? I could only guess.

How did I discover Tsukuba RC Arena? The person responsible is TJ Williams. We connected through his R/C Racer Japan Facebook group. TJ has been racing for ages and is very knowledgeable. He answered every question I threw at him. Give his page a like and get involved.

I met a few of his fellow members. These wonderful guys knew so much about the sport. They taught me a lot and even let me drive a car. I’ll be a threat on the track, but it was fun.

Where is Tsukuba RC Arena?

Address: 4385-2 Yatabe, Tsukuba, Ibaraki 305-0861. Driving from Tokyo takes about one hour.

The Tsukuba Express Line’s Midorino station is closest to the arena, but it’s a 5-kilometer walk. Go by car or taxi.

Here it is on a Google Map:

Conclusion

RC racing has a huge following in Japan. Tsukuba RC Arena is a mecca for them. Yokomo has poured a lot of resources into it. It will be the premier place for international-level events. Why don’t you join them? Leave questions and comments below.
